Seventh Derasat forum launched in partnership with the League of Arab States

Manama, Dec. 14 (BNA): Preparations are underway for the seventh annual forum of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), to be held on 22–23 December under the theme "The Arab Research Centres Consortium for Sustainability and Development", in partnership with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

The forum will bring together senior representatives from Arab states and leading research centres, and will coincide with the official launch of the documentary publication "Bahrain and the League of Arab States: 1971–2025", in the presence of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and a high-level delegation.

Abdulla Mohamed Alahmed, Derasat CEO,  said the forum reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s leading role in promoting knowledge and scientific research as drivers of effective development policies and support for the Sustainable Development Goals, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He noted that the forum’s theme aligns with the outcomes of recent Arab summits, including the Jeddah Summit in 2023 and the Bahrain Summit in 2024, which called for an Arab intellectual platform focused on development and sustainability, expanded partnerships with the United Nations system, and knowledge-based approaches that support decision-makers.

The forum will feature high-level discussions, closed workshops and a specialised exhibition, examining the evolving role of Arab think tanks in moving from research production to influencing policymaking, including through the use of big data, artificial intelligence and future policy analysis tools.

Alahmed said the forum provides an important platform for strengthening Arab research cooperation and advancing joint Arab action in support of sustainable development.
