PM: Iraq Moves Steadily Toward Economic Development, Praises UNAMI’s Role in Strengthening Constitutional Process

Baghdad / NINA/- Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed on Saturday that Iraq is moving steadily and confidently toward development and economic advancement, noting that the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) played a significant role in supporting and consolidating the country’s constitutional processes.
In a speech delivered during the official ceremony marking the end of UNAMI’s mandate, attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Al-Sudani said that UNAMI had been a vital partner for Iraq, providing continuous support throughout various stages and extending a helping hand to the Iraqi people.
The Prime Minister stated that Iraq has established a political system based on democratic principles, emphasizing that UNAMI contributed effectively to reinforcing constitutional pathways and political stability.
He also pointed to tangible progress in the areas of security and institutional reform, adding that his government has witnessed unprecedented diplomatic openness at both regional and international levels.
Al-Sudani stressed that Iraq’s relationship with UNAMI will remain strong, expressing his gratitude to religious authorities, political forces, and social elites for their role in building and strengthening Iraq’s national experience./ End
