Cobi Jones: Saudi Football’s Remarkable Rise and World Cup Hosting Will Elevate the Kingdom's Global Standing

   Washington, December 09, 2025, SPA -- Former U.S. national team stars Cobi Jones and Charlie Davies praised the rapid progress of Saudi football and the momentum it has gained through substantial investment and the signing of world-class players. They affirmed that hosting the FIFA World Cup would further elevate the Kingdom’s international stature and accelerate its football development.
   Cobi Jones, the former U.S. captain and all-time leader in international appearances, described the transformation of Saudi football to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), stating: “Saudi football’s transformation is remarkable and has captured global attention thanks to sustained support and the attraction of major stars. Hosting the World Cup in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will enhance the Kingdom’s standing in world football and expand its presence and growth.”
   Jones also commended the Saudi national team’s notable achievements on the global stage, specifically citing its historic victory over Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. He noted that such strong performances reflect a solid foundation for future progress in the sport.
