The Interior Minister Discusses With His Pakistani Counterpart Ways To Enhance Security Cooperation Between The Two Countries

Baghdad / NINA /- Iraqi Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed with his Pakistani counterpart, Mohsin Naqvi, ways to enhance joint security cooperation between Iraq and Pakistan.
According to a statement from the Minister’s media office, Al-Shammari met with the Interior Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi, on the sidelines of the Second International Conference of the Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling, held in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
The statement noted that the meeting addressed bilateral relations and means of strengthening security cooperation, particularly in combating migrant smuggling, human trafficking, and organized crime, as well as exchanging security information and expertise to confront shared regional challenges.
Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining continuous security and technical communication between the two ministries and enhancing coordination in international forums, in a manner that supports joint efforts to pursue cross-border smuggling networks and develop practical mechanisms to curb the exploitation of migrants by criminal gangs.
For his part, the Pakistani Interior Minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Iraq’s clear efforts in combating transnational crimes and its active role within international alliances, commending the level of security cooperation between Baghdad and Islamabad.
The statement added that the meeting was part of a series of bilateral talks held by the Minister of Interior with his counterparts from participating countries, aimed at strengthening joint action and coordination on security issues of mutual interest./ End
