Ombudswoman: Bahrain continues to develop human rights protection framework

Manama, Dec. 9 (BNA): Ghada Hameed Habib, Ombudswoman and Chairperson of the Prisoners’ and Detainees’ Rights Commission (PDRC), underscored that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to strengthen and develop its human rights protection framework, drawing upon a distinguished civilisational heritage, enduring societal values, and a solid legal and legislative framework, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Marking Human Rights Day, observed annually on December 10, she highlighted Bahrain’s notable progress in the human rights field, noting that the Kingdom has become a model partner in the international community.
She further emphasised that respect for human rights in the Kingdom is a consistent and systematic practice, supported by independent oversight bodies such as the Ombuds Office and PDRC.
These institutions, she added, play a key role in safeguarding rights and overseeing law enforcement and detention facilities, ensuring optimal conditions and protection of freedoms in the Kingdom.
