Al-Mandalawi Affirms Iraq’s Keenness to Strengthen Relations with the EU and France

Baghdad / NINA /-First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, affirmed Iraq’s keenness to establish stable and effective relations with European Union countries in a manner that contributes to achieving security and prosperity and serves the mutual interests of all nations.

According to a statement issued by his media office, Al-Mandalawi received, on Tuesday, the French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durel, at his residence, where a number of political and economic issues of mutual interest were discussed.

During the meeting, Al-Mandalawi highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations with EU member states, particularly France, stressing the need to develop partnerships between Baghdad and Paris across various fields and to expand the presence of French academic institutions in Iraq.

He noted that enhancing joint cooperation would support regional stability and open new horizons for development, emphasizing the importance of activating existing agreements and advancing the work of parliamentary friendship committees between the two countries.

Both sides underscored the importance of continuing to develop bilateral relations and broadening investment partnerships, especially in the sectors of infrastructure, healthcare, and air transport./ End
