Bishkek, Dec. 9, 2025. /Kabar/. National seminar entitled "From Data to Policy: Strengthening Trade and Transport Cost Analysis in Landlocked Developing Countries" was held in Bishkek.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications jointly with UN High Representative for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) .
The seminar aimed to develop skills in estimating trade and transport costs, combining training in macro-level tools with practical methods, including the time-cost model and border efficiency index. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Bekzhan Rysmendeev noted in his speech that Kyrgyzstan, as a landlocked country, faces complex structural constraints that affect trade. This directly impacts export competitiveness, import costs, and the pace of economic development.
Bekzhan Rysmendeev emphasized the importance of a sustainable transit environment for landlocked countries. "We actively support the digitalization of freight transportation: the implementation of electronic seals, electronic accompanying documents, the integration of customs systems, and a single-window system. All of this reduces costs and expedites trade. It's worth noting that Kyrgyzstan is paying special attention to the development of road and rail corridors, as well as multimodal logistics hubs, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route and corridors providing access to the Caspian Sea and European countries," Rysmendeev said.
Representatives of government agencies, universities, non-governmental organizations, and freight forwarding associations participated in the seminar.
