Thai PM Anutin Shuts Down Cambodia Talks

BANGKOK, Dec 9 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has closed the door on further negotiations with Cambodia over ongoing border clashes, issuing a firm ultimatum that Phnom Penh must comply with Thailand's conditions to secure a ceasefire.

The Prime Minister confirmed that while military tactics remain classified, the armed forces are operating under a clear mandate to protect national sovereignty and citizens.

"There will be no more negotiation," Charnvirakul stated. "If Cambodia wishes to cease hostilities, they must only comply with what Thailand has stipulated."

He also directly countered certain foreign media reports suggesting Thailand initiated the aggression. Charnvirakul insisted that Thailand has consistently proven it is the "peace-loving" party that has been "acted against and invaded."

When questioned about the joint declaration previously signed by Thailand and Cambodia and witnessed by Malaysia and the U.S., the Prime Minister immediately dismissed the relevance. "There is none anymore, I don't recall it," he said.

Charnvirakul ruled out immediate discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump or Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, stressing that the conflict is solely a matter between Thailand and Cambodia.

He added that he was not concerned the border dispute would negatively affect ongoing trade tariff negotiations with the United States.

When asked about the smooth running of civilian evacuations in the border areas, Prime Minister Anutin said that he had ordered and convened a meeting of all provincial governors to ensure the highest possible standard of care for the citizens moving to shelters.

He further instructed the governors of the seven border provinces to fully utilize the budget allocated for areas declared as high-risk and to carry out all necessary operations to the fullest extent. - 819 (TNA)
