FM Affirms The Possibility Of Increasing Int’l Support For Iraq In The Field Of Food Security

Baghdad / NINA/- Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed on Saturday the possibility of increasing international support for Iraq in the field of food security, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation with international organizations dedicated to sustainable development and food stability.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Carl Skau, the Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), on the sidelines of the 23rd Doha Forum.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the WFP in food security, as well as future projects aimed at supporting developmental stability and strengthening the capacities of Iraqi institutions concerned with the food sector.
Both parties underscored the importance of continuing joint efforts to ensure the successful implementation of humanitarian and developmental programs and initiatives that align with the government's objectives toward achieving sustainable food security.
Minister Hussein highlighted the potential to increase international support allocated to Iraq in this vital area, while reiterating Baghdad’s backing for political solutions that could improve humanitarian conditions in Yemen and the Gaza Strip.
For his part, Carl Skau reviewed the WFP’s efforts and activities in Yemen and Gaza, affirming the program’s commitment to ongoing cooperation with Iraq on issues of mutual interest.
The statement added that Iraq’s ambassador to Doha, Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr, attended the meeting./ End
