Moslem World League hails Indonesia as model of harmony in diversity

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa emphasized that Indonesia remains one of the best examples for Muslim-majority nations in maintaining harmony amid diversity.
During a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, Al-Issa said Indonesia has played an important strategic role in promoting global tolerance despite its broad religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity.
“Indonesia is a role model, an excellent and inspiring example for Islamic countries in how to preserve harmony in the midst of extraordinary religious and ethnic diversity,” Al-Issa said in a press statement.
He noted that Indonesia and the Muslim World League (MWL) share a common mission to uphold moderate Islamic values and strengthen unity among Muslims. This synergy, he added, is essential in conveying the message of peaceful Islam to the world.
The meeting between President Prabowo and the Secretary General also discussed various global issues, including challenges faced by Muslim communities in different regions.
Al-Issa stressed that Muslims worldwide must continue to advocate for peace and harmony.
He also extended his condolences over the recent disasters affecting Indonesia, saying the MWL is prepared to support national recovery efforts.
“On behalf of the Rabithah Al-Alam Al-Islami (MWL), we express our readiness to assist the Republic of Indonesia in alleviating the suffering caused by the flooding,” Al-Issa said.
