61st ISOCARP World Planning Congress Opens in Riyadh Under Patronage of Riyadh Mayor

   Riyadh, December 2, 2025, SPA -- Under the patronage of Mayor of Riyadh Region Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, the 61st ISOCARP World Planning Congress, organized by the Riyadh Municipality in cooperation with the International Society of City and Regional Planners, has commenced with the theme: “Cities & Regions in Action: Planning Pathways to Resilience and Quality of Life.” The congress runs from December 1 to 4.
   This year’s congress explores a wide range of urban themes, including climate resilience, digital transformation, inclusive governance, urban equity, quality of life, population growth, resource management, and the development of critical infrastructure. It also highlights global experiences in data-driven, AI-enhanced planning while examining the most sustainable pathways for urban growth.
   The event coincides with the 60th anniversary of the International Society of City and Regional Planners, reflecting its long-standing global influence and contribution to advancing planning practices.
