Rafsanjani urges all to act within legal framework

Tehran’s substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani urged all to act within legal frameworks.

He made the remark while addressing the massive congregation gathered at the site of Tehran University campus for the weekly prayers.

He outlined the events after the recent presidential elections in the country, stressing that all including the officials, the government, the parliament, the military and security forces as well as those who have objections to the result of the election should abide by the law and act within the legal frameworks.

Underlining the importance of promoting the sense of trust in the society, he said the media were obliged to create an atmosphere in which all sides were able to express their ideas in the logical manner.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the ayatollah also called for the release of those were detained in recent unrests and said those who have been damaged by the incidents should receive comfort and sympathy.

He also stressed the need for further unity and cooperation to solve problems and keep moving towards the goals of the Islamic Revolution.

He praised the recent elections held in Iran saying that it started and ended well due to the fact that the four candidates endorsed by Guardians Council conducted their campaigning well and thus people showed a massive turnout in the elections hoping for a totally free election.

Wishing that “regardless of the results of the elections the same spirit had still prevailed the country”, the Expediency Council chairman further said “we could have been enjoying the most honorable status in the world but unfortunately things did not turn out that way.”

Outlining the procedure of the Islamic Revolution in Iran under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini and the principles the revolution was basically built upon, he said it was a fundamental notion with the late Imam Khomeini that if people were not satisfied, then the country’s affairs would not succeed.
