Investigation on about cause of airliner crash

An Iranian official said 8 Russian experts on Friday joined the Iranian team investigating the cause of the crash of an Iranian airliner which claimed the lives of 168 people.

Spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization Reza Jaafarzadeh said the Russian experts will join the Iranian investigation team to probe into the causes of the crash.

He said they will accompany the members of the Iranian team of investigators to the scene of the crash this evening to identify the elements contributing in the crash of the airliner which belonged to Iran’s Caspian Airlines.

The official said the public will be informed of the results of the probes as soon as any tangible conclusions are made.

The Caspian Airlines plane with 153 passengers and a crew of 15 onboard crashed in a farmland in a village in Takestan region of the Qazvin province about 200 km northwest of Tehran.

The fully-laden, three-engine Russian-built Tupelov-154 was on its way from Tehran to Yerevan, Armenia, when it crashed 16 minutes after it take off.
