Riyadh Hosts International Conference for Education and Innovation in Museums with Wide Global Participation

Riyadh, November 27, 2025, SPA -- The International Conference for Education and Innovation in Museums (ICEIM) – Panels, is set to launch on December 1, 2025. Organized by the Museums Commission at Diriyah Art Futures, the two-day event brings together leading museum directors, experts, and academics from around the globe, solidifying the conference's status as the premier specialized platform of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa.
Held this year under the theme "Museums: Beacons of Knowledge or Keepers of History?", the conference invites a critical reexamination of the evolving role of museums amidst rapid digital and cultural transformation. It explores how museums function not only as traditional custodians of human memory and heritage but also as dynamic educational institutions and spaces for creativity and cross-cultural dialogue.
ICEIM will highlight new pathways for the future of museums, focusing on technological adoption, strengthening community engagement, building cross-border partnerships, and advancing exhibition methods and experiential learning.
The conference features a program of five main sessions held over two days, covering key themes such as the challenges and opportunities of establishing museums, the role of museums in knowledge development, innovation and technology, cultural identity within global practices, and enhancing community engagement.
The event is expected to attract approximately 150 daily participants, comprising specialists and stakeholders in the museum sector. This year's edition features a prominent lineup of influential international and regional figures in the museum sector, who share their expertise in restoration, museum management, and the development of museum educational experiences.
ICEIM builds on the Museums Commission's ongoing efforts to develop the sector as one of the key pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. By establishing an advanced knowledge ecosystem and facilitating the exchange of expertise, the commission aims to empower museums as vital institutions within the Saudi cultural landscape.
The conference outcomes are expected to establish a knowledge platform that will help shape future strategies for advancing museums within Saudi Arabia's cultural ecosystem. Ultimately, ICEIM aims to reinforce museums' role as bridges of knowledge and historical preservation, while transforming them into interactive spaces that engage contemporary audiences through innovative methodologies in learning, research, and creativity.
