Aseer Corn Harvest: Enhancing Food Security and Rural Development

   Abha, November 26, 2025, SPA -- The terraced fields of Aseer are currently experiencing a local corn harvest. Corn cultivation is widespread across the mountain villages and Tihama plains, relying on rainfall, terraced slopes, and traditional farming methods that utilize well water.
   Corn plays a central role in Aseer’s cuisine, appearing in traditional dishes and underscoring its historical significance and vital contribution to the region’s food security.
   The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture supports mountain agriculture through programs for terracing, rainwater harvesting, cooperative marketing, certified seeds, organic farming, and market connections via platforms and seasonal events.
