IMCTC Launches Specialized Media Activities in Niger to Counter Terrorism and Extremism

Niamey, November 25, 2025, SPA -- Specialized media programs organized by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) kicked off yesterday in Niamey, Niger, focusing on developing media and television messaging to enhance the role of security and traditional media in combating terrorism as part of the coalition’s initiatives in the Sahel region.
The media programs, running from November 24 to December 2, include a specialized three-day training course focused on developing media and television messaging to combat extremism and terrorism, followed by a workshop on the role of traditional and modern media in raising public awareness about terrorism prevention. A final specialized workshop on the role of security media in countering societal despair will also be held, with more than 40 trainees from the security, military, and media sectors participating.
These initiatives and training programs align with the IMCTC’s vision to build and develop national capacities, particularly in the media field, capable of leveraging modern communication tools to expose and dismantle extremist narratives and propaganda networks. They also aim to boost efforts to promote a more secure and stable environment in the region.
