Works Ministry wins MEED Award for Muharraq Ring Road as Best Roads Project in MENA

Dubai, Nov. 20 (BNA): The Ministry of Works won the 2025 MEED International Award for the Best Roads Project, in recognition of the Muharraq Ring Road project, which was opened to traffic in December 2024. The project was selected by the judging panel as the best roads project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region during the 2025 MEED Projects Awards ceremony held in the United Arab Emirates.

 

The Ministry expressed pride in this regional recognition, highlighting the project teams’ efforts and its commitment to applying high engineering standards in planning, executing, and managing infrastructure projects. The achievement aligns with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and sustainable development, enhances the quality of the road network and services, and reflects the Ministry’s adherence to internationally recognised project management practices.

 

The Ministry’s delegation to receive the award included Ahmed Sami Al Tajer, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads, Hamad Ibrahim Badaw, Director of Road Projects and Maintenance Directorate, and Bassam Malallah, Head of Strategic Planning and Project Management, along with members of the project team who contributed to its completion according to the highest global engineering standards.

 

The Ministry participated in the 15th edition of the awards with two projects: the Muharraq Ring Road, under the Roads Project category, and the Janabiya Highway Expansion Project, under the Small Projects category. Both projects won at the national level, qualifying them for competition at the regional level.
