Tourism Minister: Strategic partnership with FIBA 3x3 underscores Bahrain’s status as a leading sports tourism destination

Manama, Nov. 18 (BNA): Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), said that Bahrain’s hosting of the final round of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour on 21 – 22 November reflects the strength of the Authority’s ongoing partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Now in its third year, she said, the collaboration underscores growing confidence in Bahrain’s ability to deliver world-class sporting events.
The Minister noted that the tournament is one of the flagship events within BTEA’s push to expand sports tourism, generating strong public interest and wide media coverage while promoting Bahrain’s cultural and tourism offerings internationally. She added that the Kingdom’s continued hosting of the event highlights Bahrain’s success in bringing together sport and tourism in a way that enhances both sectors.
Minister Al Sairafi also paid tribute to the support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). She added that His Highness’s support has paved the way for Bahrain to host major international competitions that showcase the Kingdom as an attractive destination for global sports fans.
She affirmed that BTEA will continue to host major sporting events that reinforce Bahrain’s standing in the sports-tourism arena and create new opportunities for the tourism and wider economic sectors. She noted that the Manama Final has now become a signature event on FIBA’s global calendar, with Bahrain firmly associated with its success.
