Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival to host 45 films from 30 countries

Shiraz, IRNA – The 43rd Fajr International Film Festival will take place in Shiraz from November 26 to December 3, showcasing 45 selected films out of 99 submissions from 30 countries.
According to festival secretary Rouhollah Hosseini, only nine of these films are Iranian, with the rest coming from international filmmakers.
The festival will feature four main competitive sections and will host nearly 200 foreign participants, including notable figures from the global film industry.
In addition to film screenings, specialized workshops, such as one on Poetic Cinema, will be held, led by prominent instructors from countries like Greece and Russia. The workshops aim to enhance the skills of Iranian artists, particularly those in the southern province of Fars.
Hosseini emphasized that the festival’s focus is on Poetic Cinema, aiming to elevate Shiraz’s status as a global cultural hub. He noted the importance of conducting the event at international standards, especially in its inaugural year in Shiraz.
Mehdi Ranjbar, Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance Office in Fars, highlighted the city’s rich literary heritage, asserting that no other city could better host the theme of Poetic Cinema.
With recent improvements in cinematic infrastructure, including the opening of several state-of-the-art theaters, Shiraz is well-prepared for this prestigious event.
