Interior Minister meets Omani counterpart

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, met with Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior of the Sultanate of Oman.

 

Upon arrival at the Police Fort, Minister Al Busaidi was received by the Deputy Minister of Interior, the Chief of Public Security, and several senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, while the Guard of Honour performed the ceremonial salute.

 

Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah said that this visit reflects the longstanding ties between the two countries and their peoples, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman.

 

The Interior Minister emphasised the need to continue cooperation to meet the accelerating security challenges, calling for enhanced joint mechanisms and security partnership in accordance with the Security Cooperation Agreement between the Governments of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Oman. He commended the high level of coordination in combating transnational organised crime.

 

On his part, the Omani Minister commended the historical relations between the two countries, underlining their commitment to develop cooperation in all domains, especially security. He emphasised the importance of mutual visits to enhance security coordination, unify positions, and address current and future security challenges. He highlighted the necessity of combined efforts to counter all negative phenomena arising from various forms of crime.

 

During the discussions, several key security topics were reviewed to enhance cooperation and coordination, building on achievements aimed at improving performance in response to fast-changing regional and international security developments.

 

At the conclusion, the two ministers exchanged commemorative gifts. The Omani minister also signed the visitors’ book, expressing his pleasure at visiting the Ministry of Interior and meeting with his counterpart to discuss means to enhance relations to serve the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples.
