BJA highlights HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s support on Press and Digital Media Law

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): The Bahraini Journalists Association (BJA) expresses gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for receiving the Association’s Chairman and Board members on the occasion of the ratification of the Press and Digital Media Law, which was endorsed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the BJA, expressed the media and press community’s appreciation for the government's efforts under the leadership of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in enacting the law. The law includes provisions that meet the aspirations of journalists and media professionals by safeguarding everyone’s rights and regulating digital media.
Al Shaiji commended the strong support of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the national press and said the Board was honoured to hear His Royal Highness’ directives regarding the national press’s role and responsibilities under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
He also highlighted the media and press community’s high appreciation for HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s continuous support, which has enabled the press to perform its duties efficiently as part of Team Bahrain while adapting to various media transformations.
Al Shaiji commended the government’s constructive cooperation with the BJA in advancing a modern law for the press that suits the Kingdom of Bahrain’s journalistic history, which has earned His Royal Highness’ full respect for its contributions to Bahrain’s development.
He pointed out that amid global media changes and the overwhelming influx of information, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister is committed to establish all legal guarantees that allow journalists to perform their roles professionally, credibly, and in line with journalistic traditions based on free, responsible speech and constructive criticism in the interest of the nation and its citizens.
Al Shaiji underlined that the new Press and Digital Media Law represents a significant achievement for the national press and marks a new beginning in the Kingdom’s journalistic journey. The Bahraini press community takes pride in HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s attention to all press publications in Bahrain, His Royal Highness patronage of the annual Prime Minister's Journalism Award, and the support for the Association's silver jubilee, all reinforcing HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s belief in the national press’s role.
He said the Bahraini press community remains grateful to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for embedding principles through His Royal Higness’ leadership of the National Action Charter Committee that have opened wide horizons for the national press.
