Iraq And The US Reaffirm Their Continued Commitment To Laying The Foundations For A New Phase Of Security Cooperation

Baghdad / NINA / – The official spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Sabah Al-Naaman, announced that senior Iraqi and U.S. officials held technical consultations in Baghdad on November 6, 2025, to discuss the future of the bilateral security relationship between the two countries, in line with the 2008 Strategic Framework Agreement and based on their shared national security interests.
Al-Naaman explained that both sides reaffirmed during the consultations their continued commitment to establishing the foundations of a new phase of security cooperation between Iraq and the United States, aimed at enabling the Federal Republic of Iraq to strengthen its security capabilities and achieve tangible benefits for both the Iraqi and American peoples.
The spokesperson added that senior officials will continue their consultations in the coming months with the goal of enhancing long-term security cooperation and counterterrorism efforts, in a manner that supports the readiness and capabilities of Iraq’s federal security forces, including the Peshmerga forces.
Al-Naaman noted that these efforts come as part of strengthening the shared interests of preserving Iraq’s sovereignty, defeating terrorism, promoting regional stability, and bolstering economic ties between the two countries./ End
