Childrity Developing Malaysian Village in Afghanistan
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- A charity organisation, Childrity, is in the process of developing a Malaysian village project, or MyKampung, in Baghlan, Afghanistan, to provide safe and comfortable housing for families living in poverty.
In a statement on Friday, the organisation said the project, led by its Chief Executive Officer Nurfarahin Romli, better known as Farah Lee, is being developed on waqf (endowment) land entrusted to Childrity, with the first phase involving the construction of 20 permanent houses.
According to the statement, a visit to the MyKampung site was carried out in conjunction with Childrity’s ongoing humanitarian mission in Afghanistan, which was recently struck by a major earthquake.
“Although the main focus of the mission is emergency assistance to disaster victims, the Childrity team also reviewed the progress of the MyKampung project, which is currently showing very positive progress. The project is now more than 50 per cent complete and is expected to be fully completed before Ramadan next year.
“Each house is built using quality materials and designs that are resistant to disasters such as earthquakes and floods, to ensure the safety and long-term comfort of the occupants,” read the statement.
Meanwhile, Farah Lee, in the same statement, said that the MyKampung Baghlan project is not just about building houses, but an effort to help communities rebuild their lives towards a better, safer, and more stable future.
“Many families were previously forced to live in tents or clay houses below ground level to withstand extreme cold and heat. Through this project, they will finally have a safe, solid, and dignified place to call home,” she said.
In this regard, Childrity called on all parties, especially Malaysians, corporate bodies, and philanthropists, to share their kindness and bring hope to the Afghan people who continue to struggle for survival.
Those who wish to contribute to the construction of the houses or help fund additional facilities such as wells, mosques, schools, and playgrounds may do so via the Maybank account: 5622 6361 3919 (FL Charitable Organisation - Childrity) or visit www.childrity.com.
