King Of Malaysia To Attend State Banquet At Sakhir Palace

MANAMA (Bahrain), Nov 7 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, will be honoured at a State Banquet hosted by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain at Sakhir Palace on Friday.

The evening will commence with a private event for royal members at 7.30 pm (12.30 am Malaysian time).

Sultan Ibrahim will be accompanied by members of the Johor royal family, including Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj.

The State Banquet will also be joined by Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Dr Azmi Rohani, Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Amran Mohamed Zin and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Bahrain Shazryll Zahiran.

The evening formalities will include a recital of Quran verses at the National Council Room, followed by speeches from both King Hamad and Sultan Ibrahim. 

Sultan Ibrahim arrived here on Thursday after concluding a four-day state visit to Saudi Arabia. 

This is the King’s sixth state engagement abroad, following Singapore, China, Brunei, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, and marks a historic milestone in Malaysia-Bahrain relations, as it is the first royal visit since 1974.
