MWL Expresses Deep Distress over UN Reports of Famine in Sudan

Makkah, November 06, 2025, SPA -- The Muslim World League (MWL) expressed its deep concern and distress over the shocking United Nations reports regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation and famine affecting several regions in Sudan.
In a statement issued by the MWL's General Secretariat, MWL Secretary-General and Organization of Muslim Scholars Chairman Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa said that famine is now unfolding in Sudan before the eyes of the international community -- for the second time in less than a year -- according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report for the cities of El-Fasher and Kadugli.
He stressed that the declaration constitutes an urgent appeal to the international community to intensify efforts to save the Sudanese people, take firm and immediate action against the horrific violations committed against civilians, hold those responsible accountable, compel criminal elements to fully comply with international humanitarian law, and uphold the principles of the Jeddah Declaration on the protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
