The Chinese Ambassador to Iraq: We Are Ready To Cooperate With Iraq On Environmentally Friendly Projects

Baghdad / NINA/-The People’s Republic of China has reaffirmed its readiness and willingness to expand cooperation with Iraq in the field of environmentally friendly green development projects.

In a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) on Wednesday, Chinese Ambassador to Baghdad Cui Wei said, “Chinese companies and businesspeople are operating in various parts of Iraq, including the northern region, the capital Baghdad, and other provinces.” He added that “a Chinese company recently discussed with the Baghdad Municipality the establishment of a waste treatment plant, and the talks have reached advanced stages.”

The ambassador noted that “China is a global leader in commercial cooperation on sustainable, eco-friendly projects,” adding that “Chinese companies working in Iraq are encouraged to carry out projects that benefit local communities, including planting thousands of trees near project sites and establishing waste processing facilities.”

He further explained that “China’s five-year development plans have achieved significant results, reinforcing the country’s commitment to advancing international cooperation in environmentally friendly initiatives.”

Regarding last week’s meeting between the Chinese and U.S. presidents in the city of Busan, Ambassador Cui said that “the summit helped ease global tensions,” emphasizing that “China and the United States represent the world’s two largest economies, and both must adopt mutual respect and cooperation within the framework of bilateral relations.”

He warned that “trade wars and tariff measures harm both sides,” stressing that “China is prepared to respond to any party seeking to provoke conflicts and will not allow its global interests to be harmed.” He expressed hope that “the American side will pursue a policy based on mutual respect and peaceful coexistence with China.” /End
