Bahrain welcomes Security Council resolution on Moroccan Sahara

Manama, Nov. 1 (BNA):  The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the recent United Nations Security Council resolution concerning the situation in the Moroccan Sahara.  The resolution, which calls for negotiations based on Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal, represents an important step toward achieving a final and lasting political solution to this issue, in accordance with the principles and objectives of the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised the Kingdom of Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the United States of America in drafting and presenting this resolution, which underscores the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.  It also reiterated the Kingdom’s steadfast solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco and its full support for Morocco’s legitimate efforts to achieve a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, in a manner that preserves the security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, while contributing to the promotion of security, peace, and sustainable prosperity across the region.
