Quality Education And Good Healthcare Key To Nation’s Prosperity - Queen of Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, said that quality education and good health are key to shaping a nation’s prosperity.

In a post on His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia’s official Facebook page on Monday, Her Majesty said education was key to the future, as it not only imparts knowledge but also instils values, empathy and integrity in every individual.

“A prosperous nation begins with healthy people; therefore, access to healthcare must be enjoyed by all, regardless of background or ability,” said the Queen.

Raja Zarith Sofiah made the remarks while officiating the Yayasan Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan Malaysia (Yayasan MySDG) 2025 Impact Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

Also present were Yayasan MySDG chairman Abdul Wahid Omar, Deputy Economy Minister Hanifah Hajar Taib and Auditor-General Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

Raja Zarith Sofiah also drew attention to the principles underpinning the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which stress the importance of ensuring that no group is left behind.

The Queen urged that persons with disabilities (OKU), the elderly, the Orang Asli, the urban and rural poor, women, children and youth be provided with opportunities and hope to lead better lives.

Her Majesty also called for active participation from all sectors, including public, private, community and those involved in philanthropic endeavours, to achieve these goals.

At the conference, Raja Zarith Sofiah attended two presentation sessions delivered by UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network president Professor Jeffery D. Sachs and Sunway Centre for Planetary Health executive director Professor Dr Jemilah Mahmood.

Yayasan MySDG is a foundation dedicated to accelerating Malaysia’s progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
