NIHR participates in 10th Eurasian Alliance meeting in Moscow

Moscow, Oct. 26 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson, and Rawdha Salman Al Aradi, Member of the Council of Commissioners, participated in the 10th Meeting of the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutions (EOA), held in Moscow over two days under the patronage of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation.
The meeting was opened by Professor Tatyana Moskalkova, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, who welcomed the participating delegations.
During the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Problems of Human Rights Protection: Exchange of Best Practices of Ombudsmen," Dr. Al Hammadi delivered a presentation on "Protecting Human Rights in the Digital Era." He highlighted NIHR’s efforts to keep pace with digital transformation through awareness programmes and initiatives focused on the right to privacy and combating cyberbullying. He also noted the institution’s work in monitoring human rights issues on social media platforms and strengthening partnerships with both public and private sectors to promote digital safety.
For her part, Al Aradi presented a paper titled "Exchange of Best Practices on Protecting the Rights of Residents in Remote and Rural Areas," in which she reviewed NIHR’s efforts to align national policies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to strengthen the protection of the rights of all community groups. She affirmed that Bahrain’s human rights approach is inclusive of all residents in the Kingdom.
She also highlighted NIHR’s key initiatives, including field monitoring through announced and unannounced visits, the preparation of reports and recommendations, awareness campaigns on human rights, and enhanced cooperation with civil society. She added that the institution promotes multilingual communication and works to align national legislation with international human rights standards.
The NIHR is a member of the Eurasian Alliance and is the first Arab institution to join the Alliance, which serves as an important platform for dialogue aimed at ensuring, developing, and strengthening cooperation between ombudsmen offices and national institutions concerned with the protection of human rights.
