Bahrain's parliamentary delegation participates in GCC APA Committee Coordination Meeting

Manama, Oct. 22 (BNA):  Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, led by MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee and Vice President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), participated remotely in the GCC coordination meeting.

The meeting aimed at consulting and coordinating positions ahead of the upcoming meeting of the APA Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs, scheduled to be held in Moscow, Russia, from October 28-30.

The coordination meeting reviewed preparations for participation in the APA meeting, including an overview of the agenda, key topics for discussion, and the GCC's perspectives on these issues.  Participants also discussed the distribution of roles and the unification of views and positions on the items listed, in a way that reflects Bahrain’s consistent stance on various social and cultural matters relevant to the peoples of Asia, particularly those of the Gulf region.

Participants reviewed the draft resolutions and final statement of the APA’s Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs.  The meeting also addressed proposals submitted by some APA members regarding the Assembly’s budget, initiatives to activate the organisational documents team, and amendments to APA’s core documents.

This coordination meeting forms part of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation's efforts to ensure effective and well-aligned participation that reflects the Kingdom’s perspectives and interests on the issues under discussion at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and supports the broader interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
