Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation participates in IPU workshop on parliamentary mediation

Geneva, Oct. 22 (BNA): Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, led by Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, Member of the Shura Council, took part in a workshop on Parliamentary Mediation, held as part of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Switzerland.

The parliamentary delegation affirmed that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has presented a distinguished Arab model in employing parliamentary diplomacy and political mediation to promote national consensus and consolidate stability, guided by a reform approach rooted in dialogue, understanding, and public participation.

The delegation emphasised that parliamentary mediation serves as an effective tool for building peace and promoting social and political stability, noting that parliaments play a central role in international efforts to strengthen understanding and trust among people and stakeholders.

It highlighted Bahrain’s parliamentary diplomacy contributions in supporting peace initiatives, rejecting violence and hatred, and promoting a culture of coexistence and tolerance, values deeply rooted in Bahrain’s national identity and principles.

The delegation underscored the importance of developing legislative frameworks for preventive parliamentary mediation and aligning them with human security concepts to safeguard societies from division and reinforce multilateral parliamentary diplomacy.

It expressed its full support for the IPU’s efforts to enhance parliamentary mediation tools, affirming that parliamentarians are natural mediators whose roles in building trust and unity complement their legislative, oversight, and humanitarian responsibilities.
