Bishkek schools to operate as usual, Mayor office says

Bishkek, Oct. 17, 2025 /Kabar/. The Bishkek Mayor Office announces that all municipal schools in the capital will operate in their normal, offline mode on October 17. This decision was made based on additional information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the Ministry, the man who distributed the video threatening students is not located in Kyrgyzstan. The Bishkek City Police Department noted that all schools listed have been inspected, and no suspicious objects or security threats were found. Police officers continue to work in an enhanced mode, ensuring the safety of students, teachers, and educational institutions.

We ask parents and residents to remain calm, trust only official sources of information, and not to disseminate unverified information, the police department emphasized.

For information, yesterday the man who made the threats against the Bishkek schoolchildren has been identified as a wanted Ukrainian citizen, Yaroslav Mykhailovich Ovsyuk, born in 2005.
