SFD Lays Cornerstone for King Salman Hospital in Mauritania

Nouakchott, September 17, 2025, SPA -- In the presence of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Chief Executive Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, participated in the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Hospital project in Mauritania. The hospital is being built with a $70 million grant from Saudi Arabia through the SFD.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay, Minister of Health Dr. Abdallah Sidi Mohamed Weddih, Minister of Economy and Finance Sid'Ahmed Ould Bouh, Saudi Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Raqabi, and a number of other officials.
The 300-bed hospital aims to enhance healthcare and meet the growing demand for health services in the capital. It will include various medical specialties and modern facilities, and will serve as a referral center for 15 other hospitals while supporting specialized medical institutions with limited capacity.
