Armenia speaker, Iranian envoy discuss issues of mutual interest

Speaker of Armenia National Assembly Hovik Abhrahamyan, in a meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Yerevan Ali Saqaeeian, Tuesday congratulated President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the meeting, Mr. Abhrahamyan described bilateral cooperation as ‘strategically important’ and stressed the need for its development in different fields.
Iran’s ambassador, for his part, referred to the agreements reached during Armenia president April visit to Tehran and expressed hope that the agreements would be implemented during President Ahmadinejad’s second term.
Issues such as bilateral relations, regional security, and settlement of Karabakh crisis were discussed in the meeting.
Relations between Iran and Armenia have developed in the recent years and the two countries have expanded their cooperation in political, economic, energy and transportation fields.
