"King Hamad Global Center" Chairman receives Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem and the Middle East

Manama, Sep. 11 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the "King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance", received the Most Reverend Dr. Hosam Naoum, Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem and Primate of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, and the Right Reverend Sean Semple, Bishop of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf. They were accompanied by Reverend Dr. Richard Fermer, Dean of St. Christopher’s Cathedral in Manama.


 

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted Bahrain’s pride in hosting the Central Synod of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, noting that the event underscores the Kingdom’s longstanding role as a model for religious freedom and its commitment to promoting tolerance, coexistence, and interfaith dialogue under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.


 

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed commended the remarks of His Majesty’s during the reception of the archbishops, which reflected HM the King’s vision on consolidating shared human values, spreading the culture of peace, tolerance, and fostering communication and cooperation among people and cultures for the good of humanity.


 

The Minister also extended his appreciation to Reverend Dr. Richard Fermer for his efforts in supporting the activities of St. Christopher’s Cathedral and his contributions to organising and ensuring the success of the Central Synod. He highlighted the hosting of the 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf next February in Bahrain, as part of joint efforts to promote the culture of peace and tolerance.


 

On their part, Archbishop Dr. Hosam Naoum and the accompanying delegation expressed their gratitude to the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of HM the King, for its respect for religious freedoms and leading initiatives, supported by the "King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance", in promoting peace and tolerance among peoples of different cultures and faiths. They wished the Kingdom and its people continued progress and prosperity.
