Kyrgyzstan interested in expanding cooperation with Malaysia, President Zhaparov

Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2025 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received on Wednesday Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Malaysia Nur Jazlan Mohamad as part of his official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

The presidential press service said that the parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to expanding inter-parliamentary interaction and implementing previously reached agreements.

The head of state, welcoming the distinguished guest, noted that Kyrgyzstan views Malaysia as an important partner in the Southeast Asian region, and highly values ​​its significant role in ASEAN and other regional organizations.

President Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is interested in expanding cooperation with Malaysia in the political, trade, economic, investment, financial, educational, tourist, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in strengthening the legal framework of bilateral relations.

He recalled that during his recent official visit to Malaysia, talks were held with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during which key areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed and a number of important documents were signed.

The head of state also emphasized that the role of inter-parliamentary cooperation as a strategic element of long-term partnership was especially emphasized during the visit. He noted that coordinated interaction of all branches of government, especially parliaments, is important for the implementation of the agreements reached.

In addition, the president briefly spoke about Kyrgyzstan's recent achievements on the path of development, including the positive dynamics of economic growth. He noted that digital technologies are being actively introduced into all areas, with special attention also being paid to improving infrastructure, building roads, developing education and healthcare.

The president noted that after the intensification of Kyrgyz-Malaysian cooperation in 2024, bilateral trade indicators are gradually growing.

Readiness for interaction and cooperation with Malaysia on various international and regional platforms was noted.

Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Malaysian Parliament Nur Jazlan Mohamad conveyed greetings from the leaders of the parliament, with whom the President met during his visit to Malaysia, noting the constructive nature of the dialogue.

He also announced the intention to create a friendship group between the parliaments of the two countries and emphasized the high interest in further strengthening cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, which has significant potential.

Nur Jazlan Mohamad noted that he had already visited Kyrgyzstan in 2009 and emphasized that the current visit allows him to see the positive changes and progressive development of the country under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov.
