Authorities Investigate Zookeeper's Death After Lion Attack

BANGKOK, Sept 10 (TNA) - Thai wildlife officials are investigating the death of a zookeeper who was mauled by three lions at a private zoo in Bangkok’s Khlong Sam Wa district.
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has sent officials to determine if the zoo’s possession of the lions, which are controlled wild animals, was legal. The investigation will also assess the safety of the animal enclosures and will be expanded to the zoo's tiger exhibit to prevent a similar tragedy.
The incident occurred in an open-air zone that is typically accessible to tourists. The area has since been closed, and all animals have been moved into cages.
According to the head of Kannayao Police Station and the zoo manager, the 50-year-old victim had worked with tigers and lions for over 20 years and was highly familiar with the animals. His duties included using a pickup truck to manage the lions’ and tigers’ movements within designated areas.
The cause of the attack is still under investigation. -819 (TNA)
