Riyadh, September 08, 2025, SPA -- The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa) and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification have launched a field inspection campaign targeting over 130 imported firewood warehouses and outlets across the Kingdom, aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability.
The campaign seeks to verify compliance with environmental regulations by ensuring imported firewood is free from plant pests that threaten vegetation. Key objectives include limiting pest spread, promoting plant health, protecting vegetation, and raising awareness among importers about the importance of using firewood from authorized sources.
The centers highlighted the campaign’s role in fostering collaboration within the environment, water, and agriculture sector and urged facilities to comply with legal requirements and cooperate with inspection teams. They emphasized that these efforts will continue to mitigate potential environmental risks.
