Baghdad / NINA /-Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has reaffirmed the Iraqi government's commitment to diversifying energy sources and reducing emissions, in line with its broader vision for economic and environmental transformation.

This came during his meeting on Wednesday with the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Francesco La Camera, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office.

The meeting included a review of the Energy Transition Assessment Report for Iraq, prepared by IRENA in collaboration with relevant Iraqi sectoral entities. The report serves as a key reference for identifying national priorities in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and is set to be officially launched soon.

Al-Sudani welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the agency's efforts in supporting Iraq’s gradual shift toward clean energy through policy advice, technical studies, and assistance in preparing the report.
