Al-Sudani: Iraq Plans To Utilize All Associated Gas From Oil Production By 2028

Baghdad / NINA /-Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed that Iraq is working to fully utilize all associated gas produced from its oil fields by the year 2028, as part of the government's broader strategy to maximize national resources and reduce dependence on imports.

This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, with Gregory Bloom, Vice President of the American oil services company Baker Hughes, in the presence of Steven Fagin, Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s media office, the meeting discussed potential avenues for cooperation and the company’s participation in developing Iraqi oil fields and investing in associated gas. Al-Sudani emphasized that the government prioritizes localizing oil-related industries, creating job opportunities for Iraqis, and incorporating subcontracting into projects to benefit the local private sector.

He also highlighted the importance of training Iraqi engineers and technicians on the latest technologies used in the energy sector, to keep pace with global developments and strengthen national capacities.

For his part, Gregory Bloom expressed Baker Hughes’ interest in expanding cooperation with Iraq in gas investment and oil field development, confirming the company’s readiness to provide advanced technologies to support the country's ongoing development efforts./ End
