NPRA Undersecretary receives International Organisation for Migration delegation

Manama, July 21 (BNA): Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, received Aishath Ihma Shareef, the Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and her accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dossairi, Assistant Undersecretary for Exits, Search and Follow-Up.
The Undersecretary commended the vital role played by the IOM in supporting international efforts related to migration and border management. The meeting discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and explored means to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two sides. The main topics included emerging challenges and developments in passport services, legal identity and integrated border management, in addition to reviewing mechanisms for sharing expertise to develop systems and procedures in line with international standards and practices.
Both sides emphasised the importance of implementing UN migration programmes and initiatives, in order to support the ministry’s efforts to enhance security, facilitate procedures related to individual mobility, and develop the technical and administrative infrastructure in this field.
