Iraq’s National Security Advisor Receives Australian Ambassador, Affirms Support for Turkish-Kurdish Agreement

Baghdad / NINA /-Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, received the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Glenn Miles, in Baghdad on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and recent developments on the regional and international levels.

According to a statement from the National Security Chancellery, the meeting reviewed the evolving political and security landscape in the region and the world, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and Australia, particularly in the fields of intelligence sharing, expertise exchange, and counter-terrorism efforts.

Al-Araji emphasized Iraq’s ongoing efforts to bridge views on a number of critical international issues. He also expressed the Iraqi government's support for the agreement between the Turkish government and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), viewing it as a step toward greater security and stability in the region.

For his part, Ambassador Miles commended the Iraqi government's constructive and wise approach in addressing the challenges facing the region. /End
