Qashqavi outlines Iran’s new proposed package for West
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Monday that Iran’s new package of proposals for the West would help resolve the major international economic, cultural and moral problems.
Qashqavi told IRNA that Iran’s new proposed package would also address the other major issues such as dismantling of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons and resolving security crises.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced on Saturday that Tehran was preparing a new package of proposals for its talks with the West in order to update its previous proposed package.
“Iran is a great and major regional power which won a higher legitimacy and public acceptance in the aftermath of its June 12 Presidential Elections thanks to the massive turnout of the Iranian people,” said the spokesman.
Commenting on the recent killing of Muslims in China, Qashqavi said that Foreign Minister Mottaki discussed the issue in separate telephone conversations with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu and Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
“We are studying the issue,” Qashqavi said, adding that Tehran has asked Iran’s Embassy in Beijing to provide its assessment on the matter to the Iranian officials.
Any new position would timely be announced by Tehran if deemed necessary, concluded the spokesman.
