Bahrain participates in WSIS+20 and AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva

Geneva, July 9 (BNA): Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva, headed Bahrain’s delegation to the WSIS+20 High-Level Event and the AI for Good Global Summit, both organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva from July 7 to 11.
The WSIS+20 Forum is held in partnership with several United Nations agencies, including the ITU, UNESCO, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD).
The forum aims to review progress made since the Geneva (2003) and Tunis (2005) action plans, and to explore means to enhance global digital cooperation within a more inclusive and sustainable future vision.
The event coincides with the AI for Good Global Summit, which focuses on AI governance and its applications in advancing development and delivering societal benefits.
Bahrain’s delegation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, took part in the high-level discussions and general sessions addressing challenges and opportunities in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the role of technological innovation in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
