Iraq And The UN Discuss The Important Role Played By UNAMI

Baghdad/NINA/-Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammed al-Hassan, the important role played by the UNAMI mission.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, "The Foreign Minister received al-Hassan and discussed with him the relations between Iraq and the United Nations and the important role played by the UNAMI mission."
The statement added, "The two sides discussed developments in the political situation in the country, particularly with regard to the ongoing preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the challenges that may face the electoral process, and ways to overcome them to ensure fair and transparent elections that reflect the will of the Iraqi voters."
The statement referred to the relationship between the federal government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government, where the Minister reiterated the importance of dialogue and understanding to reach sustainable solutions to outstanding issues, in a way that strengthens national unity and serves the interests of all citizens./End
