SIEF'25: Russia, Myanmar Forge Investment Deal

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - Russia and Myanmar have signed an agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Russian Ministry of Economic Development said on Friday.
The agreement was signed by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Myanmar Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kang Zo.
"The new agreement creates a legal framework for expanding investment cooperation between the two countries, including guarantees for investment protection, providing non-discriminatory regime for investors, and modern mechanisms for resolving investment disputes, including by submitting them to international arbitration," the ministry said in the statement.
The simplification of investment procedures will foster accelerating the implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects, including in the Dawei Special Economic Zone.
