Foreign Minister attends 48th GCC Ministerial Council meeting

Manama, June 16 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 48th extraordinary meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council to discuss recent regional and international developments and coordinate the positions of GCC states.
The meeting was held via videoconference, chaired by Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and current President of the ministerial council.
The meeting was also attended by Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC.
The Council issued a statement calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Iran to maintain regional security and stability. The Council urged all parties to work together to de-escalate tensions and to adopt diplomacy as an effective means to resolve disputes. The statement also called for the continuation of US-Iran negotiations on the Iranian nuclear file, with mediation by the Sultanate of Oman.
