Jordanian Monarch receives delegation from Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit ministerial committee

Amman, June 2 (BNA): His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, received a delegation from the ministerial committee assigned by the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Developments in the Gaza Strip.

 

The meeting was chaired by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan and His Excellency Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan.

 

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of Egypt; and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

 

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. 

 

His Majesty King Abdullah II conveyed his greetings and appreciation to His Majesty the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, emphasising the strong relations between the two kingdoms.

 

His Majesty King Abdullah II was briefed on the committee's ongoing efforts to engage with key international stakeholders and organisations to mobilise support for an immediate end to the war in Gaza, to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, to support the two-state solution, and to secure full UN membership for the State of Palestine.

 

King Abdullah II emphasised the importance of continued coordination with friendly nations to create international pressure to end the crisis in Gaza. The meeting also underlined the need to intensify Arab efforts to stop the war and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to all affected areas.

 

The King also warned against the dangerous and unprecedented Israeli escalations targeting Palestinians in the West Bank, and Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

 

Discussions also addressed the need to continue mobilising international support to enable Palestinians to receive their full legitimate rights, and to create a political horizon to achieve peace based on the two-state solution.

 

On their part, the delegation members commended Jordan for its position in support of Palestinians at all levels, regionally and internationally. They also commended His Majesty King Abdullah ll’s standing in the international community, which has been vital to mobilising world leaders and public opinion in support of the Palestinian cause concerning the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
