PM And The Lebanese President Discuss Relations Between The Two Countries And Developments In The Region

Baghdad/NINA/-Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun discussed relations between the two countries and the latest developments in the region.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office said: "Al-Sudani and the Lebanese President held a bilateral meeting today, Sunday, at the Government Palace in Baghdad, which addressed relations between the two countries and ways of cooperation in various fields, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the region."

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations, common positions, and ways to expand the constructive partnership between Iraq and Lebanon, enhance economic integration at various levels, and increase opportunities for productive communication between the private and public sectors in the two brotherly countries.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister affirmed Iraq's commitment, both government and people, to supporting Lebanon, strengthening its state institutions, standing by the brotherly Lebanese people, and rejecting any attack on its sovereignty or foreign interference that attempts to undermine its independent will. He indicated continued support and assistance to overcome current challenges.

For his part, the Lebanese President expressed his thanks and appreciation for Iraq's principled and practical stances toward Lebanon, especially during the difficult circumstances the Lebanese have experienced, enhancing its ability to confront various developments, and Iraq's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and stability, in addition to its efforts to expand horizons of cooperation for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples. /End
