SFDA, Jordanian Counterpart to Enhance Regulatory Integration

Amman, May 20, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The signing was attended by SFDA Chief Executive Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, FDA Director-General Dr. Nizar Mheidat, and acting Chargé d’Affaires Mohammed bin Hassan Mounis at the Saudi embassy in Jordan.
The signing of the MoU reflects a shared vision to build a regulatory system that keeps pace with the rapid changes in the food and drug sectors. It aims to strengthen cooperation between the two authorities in various areas related to food and drug regulation, including the exchange, support, and development of legislation, technical regulations, and standards, as well as the exchange of expertise in registration mechanisms and scientific product evaluation. This will contribute to enhancing regulatory performance and promoting good regulatory practices.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the importance of aligning regulatory efforts with international standards and advancing them through sustainable institutional partnerships. They affirmed that the Saudi-Jordanian partnership represents a key pillar in achieving more effective and impactful regional regulatory integration.
